Summer programs

embARC is a 4-week summer design academy for high school students at the College of Environmental Design, UC Berkeley. The new public program needed a name, logo, brand, print collateral with content, and a promotional video. Here’s what we came up with.
We decided on a name that was a double entendre: the word “embark” refers to a new beginning but we swapped out “ark” for “ARC” to reference the program’s architectural roots. We created an analog and digital marketing campaign to reach our target audience across the globe. We created a poster that shared program details and benefits that also doubled as a mailer which was distributed to targeted area high schools. We also art directed promotional videos and built a digital marketing campaign for all external youth and adult summer programs to reach the larger, global audience.

Berkeley-Rupp Professorship & Prize

We proudly launched the inaugural Berkeley-Rupp Professorship & Prize at UC Berkeley. The Berkeley-Rupp Prize provides recognition and support of the special values that women bring to the built environment. An award of $100,000 and a semester-long professorship is given to a distinguished practitioner or academic who has made a significant contribution to the areas of gender equity, environmentally sensitive use of resources, community, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and/or innovation in their body of work. 

Deborah Berke, a New York City-based architect known for her design excellence, scholarly achievement and commitment to moving the practice of architecture forward in innovative ways, was selected as the first recipient. We got busy promoting the Prize and the recipient through various channels.
